Shawn Purvis, a more than 25-year defense and intelligence industry veteran and a 2021 Wash100 Award winner, will assume the dual role of president and CEO at QinetiQ Group’s U.S. arm on Feb. 16.
She will oversee the operations of QinetiQ US and help the company pursue growth as a provider of defense and security platforms to U.S. forces, the company said Monday.
Steve Wadey, group CEO of QinetiQ, said Purvis’ leadership skills and industry experience could support QinetiQ US to position itself as a mid-tier company that serves U.S. military customers.
Purvis will join the board of QinetiQ Inc. and be part of QinetiQ’s global leadership team led by Wadey.
“With an ambition to build a disruptive mid-tier company in the US through both organic growth and strategy-led acquisitions, I am focused on driving both strong operational performance and executing on our growth strategy for the medium and long-term,” Purvis said.
Purvis will join QinetiQ US from Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC), where she serves as a member of the executive leadership team, corporate vice president and head of the Falls Church, Virginia-based aerospace and defense contractor’s enterprise services sector.
She previously held leadership positions at Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) and Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT).
