Melissa Hathaway, a thought leader in the fields of digital risk management and cybersecurity, has been added to the list of featured speakers for an upcoming virtual event, hosted by Executive Mosaic’s Potomac Officers Club, that will explore the national security aspect of cryptocurrency.
She will serve on a panel during POC’s “Digital Currency and National Security” forum to lend her insights to a discussion of how blockchain data can support intelligence-gathering work.
As president of Hathaway Global Strategies, she helps clients from Fortune 500 companies to understand digital risks to their organizational objectives as well as advises them on cybersecurity, industry practices, government policies and legislative matters that may affect business operations.
Hathaway previously served under the Obama and Bush administrations where she ran the Cyberspace Policy Review and the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative, respectively. Her awards for leadership work include the National Intelligence Reform Medal and the National Intelligence Meritorious Unit Citation.
She co-wrote the “Integrating Cyber Capacity into the Digital Development Agenda” report, funded by the World Bank’s Digital Development Partnership and commissioned by the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise Foundation, which recommends several pathways to bridge cyber capacity building and digital development communities.

Several other leaders from the government and business sectors will participate in the “Integrating Zero Trust Architecture into Digital Currency & National Security” and “Cryptocurrency & National Security Implications: Leveraging Blockchain Data to Enrich Intelligence Gathering” panels.
The event will have a fireside chat session with Juan Zarate, global co-managing partner and chief strategy officer at K2 Integrity; and Michael Saylor, CEO of software company MicroStrategy and an advocate for the “Bitcoin Standard.”
