Matt Mulherin, a 17-year shipbuilding industry veteran, has been named vice president of contracts Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (NYSE: HII) Newport News Shipbuilding division.
He will directly report to Don Godwin, vice president of business management and chief financial officer at Newport News Shipbuilding, and oversee contracts, export and import licensing and compliance and pricing at the division, HII said Tuesday.
Mulherin succeeded Christie Thomas, who was named corporate VP of investor relations at HII.
Jennifer Boykin, president of HII Newport News Shipbuilding, said Mulherin is a second-generation shipbuilder who brings to the role his business management and leadership experience.
Mulherin most recently served as program director for Doris Miller (CVN 81) and future aircraft carriers. He has held business operations management and finance roles at Newport News since joining the business in 2004, including financial analyst and business manager for the Block III Virginia-class submarine program.
