Officials from the U.S. Air Force and Space Force are scheduled to deliver keynote addresses at GovCon Wire’s Space Acquisition Forum on Jan. 19 to give their perspectives on the importance of technology investments for the military to maintain dominance in the space domain.
One of the speakers is Brig. Gen. Steve Whitney, military deputy at the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Space Acquisition and Integration.
He assumed his current position in August and is responsible for overseeing more than $15 billion in annual USSF programs encompassing research and development, testing, production, product support and modernization.
Prior to his current role, Whitney served as director of space programs at the USAF headquarters.
The virtual forum will also feature Lt. Gen. Michael Guetlein, commander of Space Systems Command, as the second keynote speaker.
He took charge of USSF’s field command for space acquisitions in August and manages the acquisition life cycle of 90 percent of the service branch’s mission focus areas that account for 85 percent of the $11 billion Department of Defense space budget.
His prior roles include deputy director at the National Reconnaissance Office, commander of the Space Force Element and program executive for programs and integration at the Missile Defense Agency.
Join the forum to hear from Whitney, Guetlein and other leaders from the Department of Defense and GovCon community as they discuss federal initiatives to address space acquisition goals.
