Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) and Inmarsat have teamed up to develop an integrated control segment in pursuit of Australia’s military satellite communications system procurement effort.
The two companies intend to jointly pursue the JP9102 Australian Defence Satellite Communication System development program and build on previous collaborative work under the joint U.S.-Norway HEOsat broadband initiative in the Arctic region, Northrop said Friday.
Frank DeMauro, vice president and general manager of Northrop’s tactical space systems business, said the partnership aims to deliver a network of satellite communications systems to Australian military personnel in support of their missions to defend against emerging threats in the future battlespace.
