Johns Hopkins APL Secures $225M Contract for DARPA R&D, Engineering Services

Johns Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Laboratory has secured a $225 million sole-source contract to perform research, development and engineering work for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

APL will receive task orders under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to help DARPA turn scientific and technical theories and study results into practical applications, the Department of Defense said Monday.

The agency will obligate the award’s minimum guaranteed amount upon issuance of the initial order and expects the overall ordering period to conclude in November 2026.

DOD noted that the university-affiliated research center will primarily perform tasks in Laurel, Maryland.

In June, APL received a $100 million contract from the Defense Health Agency to provide similar support services to the Military Health System enterprise.
