Sam Gordy, a former IBM (NYSE: IBM) executive and a two-time Wash100 awardee, has been named chief operating officer and president of the federal division at artificial intelligence company BigBear.ai.
In his new capacity, Gordy will be responsible for overseeing BigBear.ai’s day-to-day operations and driving its growth in the federal market, the company said Wednesday.
Gordy most recently served as general manager and chief strategy officer of IBM’s U.S. public and federal segment, where he developed go-to-market strategies for federal, state, local and educational sectors. He joined Big Blue in January 2016 as general manager of federal and government industries.
He also led Leidos’ (NYSE: LDOS) integrated systems group and spent 22 years at Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) in program and operations management roles.
Before he joined industry, Gordy served six years as an intelligence officer at the U.S. Navy from 1985 to 1991.
In the same announcement, BigBear.ai said it appointed Clare Morse as chief human resources officer to lead HR functions within federal and commercial divisions. Morse previously worked at Salient CRGT, Bechtel and ManTech International (Nasdaq: MANT),
The Columbia, Maryland-based AI company also named three-decade sales professional Jeffry Dyer as president of its commercial business.
