Luciana Borio, a specialist in medical and public health, has been appointed to the board of trustees at Noblis.
She develops new investment opportunities in the areas of clinical trials, biologics manufacturing and novel therapies as a venture partner for ARCH Venture Partners, Noblis said Monday.
Michael Chertoff, chairman of Noblis’ board of trustees, said that Borio brings her deep science, technology and strategy experience as the life sciences sector continues to evolve.
Borio is also a senior fellow for global health at the Council on Foreign Relations, and she teaches and practices medicine at Johns Hopkins University.
Her public sector experience includes more-than-eight-year career at the Food and Drug Administration, where she previously worked as a senior adviser for medicine and public health, acting chief scientist and assistant commissioner for counterterrorism and emerging threats.
She also worked at In-Q-Tel as a senior vice president and at the White House’s National Security Council as director for medical and biodefense preparedness.
