Boeing (NYSE: BA) has secured a $1.62 billion contract to repair the guidance kit of the U.S. Air Force’s Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile.
The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center is obligating $32.5 million at the time of award from the branch’s fiscal 2021 operation and maintenance funds, the Department of Defense said Friday.
Work under the sole-source indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract will take place in Newark, Ohio, through Sept. 27, 2039.
The company’s ICBM guidance maintenance team received a 99.09 percent performance rating from the Air Force’s Minuteman III Systems Directorate in November 2020.
Boeing also helped the service develop digital sustainment tools, simplify a reporting system, updated test components and implement a customer training video for Minuteman III.
