Raytheon Technologiesâ (NYSE: RTX) Collins Aerospace subsidiary has agreed to acquire FlightAware for an undisclosed sum.
Houston-based FlightAware is a digital aviation company with approximately 130 employees and has been delivering global flight tracking platforms, analytics, predictive technology and historical and real-time flight data to the aviation community since 2005, Raytheon said Monday.
Collins will integrate FlightAware with its information management services portfolio within the avionics strategic business unit upon the transactionâs closing, which is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
Dave Nieuwsma, head of avionics at Collins Aerospace, said global connectivity impacts aviationâs every segment and FlightAwareâs analytics, customer experience and data collection capabilities will help Collins optimize the connected systemâs power in support of clients.
“FlightAware’s flight tracking and data platform, the largest in the world, has the potential to deliver new capabilities and innovations across our entire business,â Nieuwsma added.
