Analogic has secured a $198.4 million contract from the Transportation Security Administration for the procurement of mid-size computed tomography systems that the agency needs to increase aviation threat detection capabilities.
According to a SAM notice posted Thursday, the firm-fixed-price order was awarded under a basic ordering agreement in support of TSA’s Checkpoint Property Screening System Program.
Analogic’s ConneCT is a checkpoint security system designed to detect advanced aviation security explosives. It offers high resolution 3D imaging, remote image analysis and a throughput of up to 600 bags per hour.
The TSA initiative is aimed at strengthening airport security through replacement of aging X-ray scanners with next generation systems and installation of advanced screening devices at air passenger checkpoints.
The agency is also looking at machine learning, image recognition and other emerging technologies to enable automatic threat detection at airports nationwide.
