Ranil Dassanayaka, vice president of architecture and engineering for government, education and health care sector at VMware (NYSE: VMW), said government agencies should adopt a more holistic approach to managing multiple cloud environments to enhance operational efficiency, control costs, accelerate service delivery and improve security.
“Management tools and practices formed from a multi-cloud perspective allow agencies to focus on the entire life cycle of cloud operations,” Dassanayaka wrote.
“As a result, they can efficiently and effectively set up, deploy, manage and optimally run infrastructure resources and application services anywhere,” he added.
Dassanayaka said adopting a multicloud strategy could provide agencies with flexibility and visibility over cloud environments in order for them to immediately detect and remediate security concerns.
He called on agencies to provide developers “access to security-compliant infrastructure and app catalogs so that they can build and deploy applications quickly in response to the needs of customers and employees without compromising security.”
Dassanayaka discussed the role of cloud in digital transformation efforts and how the VMware Cloud platform could help agencies implement new app architectures and streamline security, management and operations across all cloud environments.
