The State Department has cleared Spain’s request to procure follow-on contractor logistics support for General Atomics-built MQ-9A Block 5 remotely piloted aircraft and related equipment under a foreign military sales deal worth approximately $110 million.
The agreement includes aircraft components, accessories and spares, simulator software, repair and return, training equipment and staff training support, engineering, program and technical services and publications and technical documentation support, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Monday.
Spain uses the unmanned aerial system to support intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions with U.S. and coalition partners.
General Atomics completed delivery of four MQ-9A Block 5 units and three ground control stations to the Spanish military in November 2020 as part of an FMS transaction the State Department cleared in October 2015.
