Valerie Isbell, a former Customs and Border Protection official at the Department of Homeland Security, has been named a strategic board adviser at Sev1Tech.
She brings to Woodbridge, Virginia-based information technology service management company almost four decades of experience in serving at DHS and the departments of Justice and Defense, Sev1Tech said Tuesday.
Isbell helped DHS modernize border security applications through her IT expertise and supported the department’s collaborative efforts with the FBI and the State Department.
At CBP, she served as executive director of the Passenger Systems Program Directorate within the Office of Information and Technology for nearly 13 years.
Her government career includes work with the U.S. Army, where she held roles related to finance and customer service. She then contributed her knowledge in system automation to support drug response efforts under a DOD program.
She retired from the federal government in late 2020 after 37 years of service.
“Valerie is an inspiration to us all with her deep mission commitment, knowledge, incredible leadership, and her ability to bring teams together to tackle monumental challenges within DHS,” said Bob Lohfeld, CEO of Sev1Tech.
