The Cottonmouth prototype from Textron Systems and Elbit Systems of America will be equipped with the IronVision system to offer a 360-degree situational awareness capability by providing the vehicle’s crew members with navigation, obstacle and overlay terrain information and video images outside the vehicle, Elbit Systems of America said Tuesday.
Ridge Sower, vice president of ground combat and precision targeting at Elbit Systems of America, said the ARV concept includes advanced technologies, including a multidomain situational awareness suite that seeks to provide the Marines with “significant increases in the lethality and survivability.”
The ARV program will replace the service’s Light Armored Vehicle that has been in service for nearly four decades.
