Todd Borkey, chief technology officer of Alion Science Technology, will moderate a panel discussion on space innovation efforts by the Department of Defense during the Potomac Officers Club’s 2021 Industrial Space Defense Summit on Tuesday.
Borkey is the moderator for the “How Does the DOD Leverage Commercialization of Space” panel, which will feature Col. Russell Teehan, portfolio architect director at the U.S. Space Force’s Space and Missile Systems Center; Payam Banazadeh, CEO of Capella Space; Shayn Hawthorne, space technology leader in Amazon Web Services‘ aerospace and satellite solutions division; and Rich Aves, executive vice president of space and geospatial solutions at Parsons.
The Alion CTO leads the strategic aspects of the company’s technology development and technical activities such as a campaign on artificial intelligence and machine learning.
He previously held the same role at Thales Defense and Security and DRS Defense Solutions. Earlier in his career, Borkey took on management and engineering positions at Northrop Grumman and AT&T Bell labs.
Gen. John “Jay” Raymond, chief of space operations at USSF and a 2021 Wash100 awardee, will deliver the opening keynote speech at the 2021 Industrial Space Defense Summit while Vice Adm. Jon Hill, director of the Missile Defense Agency, will deliver the closing keynote presentation.
