Executive Mosaic is pleased to recognize Mac Curtis, chairman and CEO of Perspecta, as a seven-time Wash100 Award recipient after receiving his 2021 Wash100 Award for his leadership and vision in the advancement of cybersecurity, intelligence and defense technologies through significant contract award wins and other moves.
Throughout 2020, Curtis’ leadership and drive for excellence led Perspecta to significantly expand its portfolio, create value for its shareholders and further company growth while he ascended to the role of board chairman for Perspecta.

In early 2021, Perspecta entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Veritas Capital for approximately $7.1 billion in cash, or $29.35 per share. The Chantilly, Virginia-based contractor will be combined with Veritas-owned Peraton upon the deal’s closure to create an end-to-end information technology and mission support services provider in the government arena.
When asked to comment on the deal, Curtis said, “This announcement is the culmination of a comprehensive review process. Having considered all opportunities available, the Perspecta board of directors is confident this transaction offers the most compelling value creation for shareholders.”
A long-time GovCon industry veteran, Curtis has served as Perspecta’s CEO since its 2018 spinoff from DXC Technology’s public sector segment and subsequent merger with Vencore and KeyPoint Government Solutions. In addition, he became the company’s chairman in June 2020 following Mike Lawrie’s retirement and successfully completed the newly architected company.

Prior to the acquisition deal with Veritas Capital, Curtis led Perspecta to significant growth through major contract awards while prioritizing health and safety of its workforce amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Curtis is well known for his humanitarianism and volunteerism for his workforce and served as the chairman for American Heart Association’s 2019 Greater Washington Heart Walk to spread the message and raise a record amount of financial support.

Among the most notable contract awards secured by Perspecta in 2020 came in April when Invictus JV, a joint venture of Perspecta subsidiary Knight Point Systems, received a prime position on a five-year, $13.4 billion Small Business Enterprise Applications Solutions program from the United States Air Force Materiel Command.
Invictus JV is developing technology upgrades, product management, training, documentation, information display and business analysis services and cybersecurity, which continues his efforts from 2020 to advance cyber capabilities.
Again, in October, Perspecta, under Mac Curtis’ leadership, celebrated the opening of its new regional office in Augusta, Georgia to expand the company’s cybersecurity work with customers such as the U.S. Army Cyber Command.
It’s Perspecta’s intention that the facility will house simulated workforce training as well as back office functions and create more than 175 jobs. The new facility will also allow Perspecta to continue its work under the $905 million ARCYBER Cyberspace Ops contract the company secured in Feb. 2019.
“We are excited to make the move to Fort Gordon alongside our ARCYBER customer and are honored to support them as they defend our nation in this critical domain,” Curtis explained.
Perspecta’s other significant bookings during 2020 include a potential $277 million contract to help the Department of Labor manage enterprise IT systems and a series of contract awards worth potentially $370 million to engineer and integrate systems for classified government programs.
Curtis was quick to comment on the expansion of the tech capabilities and emphasized, “We [Perspecta] are proud to be a leading provider of systems engineering services for the Intelligence Community, and are honored to continue doing this critically important work in support of national security.”
Perspecta reported $1.14 billion in revenue for the second quarter of its 2021 fiscal year, up 3 percent from the previous quarter. Curtis expressed his satisfaction that the company had delivered on the revenue, adjusted diluted earnings per share and free cash flow conversion expectations.
“We continue to accomplish these strong results, quarter after quarter, because of our dedication and commitment to mission execution and operational excellence. With strategic awards and significant milestones in the areas of cyber, 5G and cloud migration, we remain steadfast in supporting our customers during this unprecedented time,” Curtis added.
