Donald Heckman, a director in the advanced solutions unit of Guidehouse, has been promoted as leader for defense cyber solutions at the McLean, Virginia-based management consulting firm.
Heckman will be responsible for helping Department of Defense clients adopt data sharing and protection approaches and supporting them in efforts to update information technology systems and risk management frameworks, Guidehouse said Thursday.
He will also assist customers with cyber resilience efforts in the IT, strategy, policy and weapon systems cybersecurity areas.
Before he joined Guidehouse last year, Heckman spent more than 36 years at DOD where he concurrently served as principal deputy chief information officer for cybersecurity and deputy chief information security officer.
He previously managed DOD’s $8B cybersecurity portfolio and led two groups at the National Security Agency in cyber services delivery to the U.S. military, intelligence community and allies.
