Cloudera (NYSE: CLDR) has appointed Robert Carey, a public sector cybersecurity veteran, as president of the company’s government solutions business and a vice president within its public sector unit, G2Xchange FedCiv reported Thursday.
Carey brings more than three decades of federal work experience to the Palo Alto-based enterprise data management software provider.
His previous roles were vice president and general manager of global public sector solutions at RSA Security, VP of cybersecurity, cloud and unified communications at General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) information technology business, VP of Navy and Marine Corps programs at Vencore and VP of global cybersecurity at Computer Sciences Corp.’s North American public sector arm.
He also held a 25-year career with the U.S. Navy Reserve as a civil engineer corps officer. As the Department of the Navy’s fifth chief information officer from 2006 to 2010, Carey managed an approximately $7.7B annual DON IT budget and spearheaded programs across the areas of cybersecurity, open-source software, social media, internet use, digital transformation and enterprise services.
Carey also worked at the Department of Defense as principal deputy CIO between 2010 and 2014.
