The State Department has cleared a potential $500M foreign military sale of L3Harris Technologies-built (NYSE: LHX) mission systems for integration onto Gulfstream G550 aircraft to support Italy's airborne intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and electronic warfare missions.
The Italian government wants to procure articles and support services needed to equip two planes with AISREW mission technology such as multifunctional information distribution, communications intelligence, friend or foe identification, data processing and active electronically scanned array radar systems, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday.
General Dynamics's (NYSE: GD) Gulfstream subsidiary manufactures the G550 aircraft.
DSCA added the proposed sale will include crew training, technical documentation, flight test and certification, engineering and logistics support.
The deal will require the deployment of as many as six U.S. contractor personnel to provide one-year technology familiarization support to Italy.
