President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced his intent to appoint Basil Parker, chief of staff at the Office of Personnel Management, as administrator of the office of electronic government at the Office of Management and Budget.
Nextgov reported that position at OMB is commonly known as the federal chief information officer.
Prior to OPM, Parker held leadership roles at several companies, including Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH), ASRC Federal, Telos and Technica. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years and then joined the Defense Information Systems Agency in 1995 as a computer scientist.
Reports of the president’s plan to name Parker to the federal CIO post emerged in late September.
