Boeing Receives Satcom Tech Dev’t Contract From Space Force; Troy Dawson Quoted

Boeing (NYSE: BA) will develop a payload prototype for the first phase of a military satellite communications program under a potential $298M contract from the U.S. Space Force.

The Chicago-based company said Thursday it is among the three contractors selected to participate in the military service's Evolved Strategic SATCOM program and the branch expects to award a full-system development contract in 2025.

Troy Dawson, vice president for government satellite systems at Boeing, said the company applies its digital engineering experience and technology platforms in efforts to help address the evolving threat landscape.

The Space Force, seeking a new architecture that would succeed the current Advanced Extremely High Frequency satellite platform, awarded the first ESS contract to Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) in September.
