The U.S. Air Force plans to recompete a potential $25B contract vehicle and select up to 27 contractors to help the service branch build, test, sustain and update training systems equipped with simulation technology, Bloomberg Government reported Friday.
BGOV noted the service branch could issue a draft solicitation for its Training Systems Acquisitions IV contract by November and a final request for proposals in February next year.
The Air Force expects to award TSA IV positions to 12 large companies and 15 smaller vendors in December 2022, the report added.
Twenty-five vendors won spots on the multiple-award contract’s third iteration, which the Department of Defense unveiled in August 2015.
The service branch has obligated more than $1B to procurement efforts under TSA III over the past five fiscal years and awarded more than $600M, or roughly two-thirds of the total obligated funds, to Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT). according to BGOV.
