John Stratton, former executive vice president and president of global operations at Verizon Communications (NYSE: VZ), has joined General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) as a member of its board of directors.
General Dynamics said Wednesday the telecommunication industry veteran will be part of the board's finance and benefits plans committee.
Phebe Novakovic, chairman and CEO of General Dynamics and a 2020 Wash100 awardee, said Stratton "brings extensive insight into the opportunities and risks associated with rapidly developing new technologies and cybersecurity."
“His wealth of experience operating a global public company in a highly-regulated industry will be a valuable asset as a member of our board," Novakovic added.
Stratton worked for more than 25 years at Verizon and Bell Atlantic Mobile, which merged with GTE in 2000 to form the telecom company.
