United Launch Alliance has received a $98.5 million contract to complete three Atlas V rocket launches for the U.S. Air Force and the National Reconnaissance Office. The company will continue and complete Atlas V launch activities that began under a previous contract, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
The launches would support USAF and NRO national security missions. Work will take place in Centennial, Colo., Decatur, Ala. and Cape Canaveral, Fla., through Nov. 30, 2020.
USAFs Space and Missile Systems Center issued the sole-source contract. The Air Force finances initial work via procurement funds allotted for fiscal years 2019 and 2020. The Atlas V rocket supports launches for space exploration, defense systems transport and International Space Station activities.
