HP Subsidiary Wins $1.4B Navy NGEN Recompete for End-User Hardware

HP™s (NYSE: HPQ) government arm has won a potential nine-year, $1.4B indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to provide end-user hardware for the Department of the Navy.

HPI Federal will provide desktops, laptops, zero/thin client devices, tablets and related peripherals for the service under the Next Generation Enterprise Network Recompete contract, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.

Naval Information Warfare Systems Command received three offers for the firm-fixed-price contract, which has a three-year base term valued at $358M and six option years that could run through April 2029 if all options are exercised.

œThe award of the NGEN-R EUHW contract is the culmination of several years of hard work towards moving from a single service contract to a multi-sourced contract model, Capt. Ben McNeal, program manager for the Naval Enterprise Networks Program Office, said in a statement published Tuesday. œMultiple contracts foster competition amongst bidders in price and services delivered while allowing the DON to leverage best-in-class service providers through various contract segments.

The award came a year after the Navy issued a solicitation for NGEN-R™s EUHW portion, which seeks to provide hardware for the Navy Marine Corps Intranet, Marine Corps Enterprise Network and the outside continental U.S. Naval Enterprise Network.

Federal News Network reported the contract provides the Navy and Marine Corps an option to purchase hardware œas a service and eliminates the need for manual configuration of computers through œautomated provisioning.

The Navy said it plans to award NGEN-R™s service management, integration and transport portion in the second quarter of fiscal 2020. SMIT includes software core build services, systems integration, computer network defense and operations, service desk, systems integration, computer infrastructure, storage and print services and wireless connectivity services.
