GE’s Aviation Unit to Help USAF Develop Turbine Tech Under $250M IDIQ

General Electric‘s (NYSE: GE) aviation business has won a potential eight-year, $250M indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to support the first phase of the U.S. Air Force‘s Advanced Turbine Technologies for Affordable Mission-Capability program.

GE Aviation will help the military service develop, transition and demonstrate turbines that include power, propulsion and thermal specifications, the Defense Department said Wednesday.

The Air Force received 54 proposals for the IDIQ and will allocate $25K in fiscal 2018 research, development, test and evaluation funds for the initial task order.

The ATTAM project also seeks to extend the application of military propulsion, power and thermal systems.

Contract work will take place at a company facility in Cincinnati, Ohio, through October 2026.
