The service branch said Thursday the multiyear procurement contracts will run from fiscal year 2018 through FY 2022 and will be limited for competition between Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) and General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) Bath Iron Works subsidiary.
The ships to be delivered through the MYP authority included in the presidents proposed budget for FY 2018 will integrate the AN/SPY6(V)1 radar in support of the military branchs integrated air and missile defense requirement.
The service plans to award the contracts by the end of FY 2018 under the DDG 51 shipbuilding program that has produced and delivered 65 vessels to the Navy.
