Brig. Gen. Frank Donovan, commander task force (CTF) 51, reads a letter at the commissioning ceremony for the USS Lewis B. Puller (ESB 3) from the ship™s sponsor, Martha Puller Downs. Lewis B. Puller is the first ship to be commissioned outside the United States, and the ship™s reclassification provides U.S. Central Command and 5th Fleet greater flexibility to better meet regional challenges.
