The Defense Department said Tuesday the contract includes MRGs that will be installed in the DDG 125, DDG 126 and DDG 127 ships.
MRG is a set of gears that works to transmit power from a ship’s two main propulsion gas turbines to the propulsion shaft.
Work will occur in Santa Fe Springs, California; Kansas City, Missouri; St. Augustine, Florida; and Latrobe and Erie, Pennsylvania through May 2020.
The Naval Sea Systems Command will obligate the full modification amount from the service branch’s fiscal 2016 and 2017 shipbuilding and conversion funds.
