TYSONS CORNER, VA, Nov. 17, 2016 Boeing (NYSE: BA) plans to consolidate facilities and workloads across some U.S. sites to support efforts to drive the operational efficiency of its defense, space and security unit, ExecuitveBiz reported Wednesday.
The company said Tuesday it aims to reduce office space by approximately 4.5 million square feet; close its sites in El Paso, Texas, and Newington, Virginia; and increase employment in its Los Angeles County, St. Louis and Huntsville facilities by the end of 2020.
“Our first course of action is to look at where we can move talent from some of the other locations to [Huntsville], but then if we cant do that, well have to go out and hire locally, “ Chris Raymond, vice president and general manager of Boeings electronic and information solutions division, told WAAY-TV in a report published Tuesday.
