Hawthorne, California-based OSI Systems (Nasdaq: OSIS) has bought inspection systems provider American Science and Engineering for approximately $269 million, or $37.00 per share in cash.
The transaction adds AS&E’s screening technology platforms into OSI Systems’ portfolio of security offerings such as the Z Backscatter Van X-ray backscatter-based technology and the MINI Z portable backscatter-based inspection system, OSI Systems said Monday.
Deepak Chopra, chairman and CEO of OSI Systems, said the companies’ screening products are designed to support border, port, aviation and infrastructure security operations.
OSI Systems manufactures electronic systems and components for homeland security, healthcare, defense and aerospace industries.
