Charles Davis, former president and CEO of Seabury Group’s global aerospace and defense consulting division, has joined L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) as senior vice president of strategy at the company’s aerospace systems segment.
L-3 said Tuesday he will report to Mark Von Schwarz, president of L-3’s aerospace systems segment, in his new position.
“[Davis] brings operational expertise and acquisition insight that will provide strategic guidance to our aerospace systems business segment, said L-3 Chairman and CEO Michael Strianese.
Strianese added Davis will work with Schwarz and the segment’s management team to explore new business opportunities as well as align ISR, service-life extension and multi-mission aircraft offerings with customer requirements.
Davis was promoted to lead Seabury Group’s global A&D consulting division in October 2015 after he previously served as executive VP of the same division at the professional services company.
Before he joined the private sector, Davis served as military deputy at the office of the assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition and led research, development, test, production and modernization of the service branch’s programs.
He also worked as commander of the air armament center and program executive officer for weapons at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida as well as commander of the electronic systems center and PEO for command, control and communications infrastructure and networks at Hanscom AFB in Massachusetts.
The 35-year veteran completed approximately 3, 400 flying hours in 53 aircraft types as a test pilot and retired from military service in 2014 with the rank of lieutenant general.
