Lockheed Gets $74M Contract Modification for Japan F-35A Production Materials


F-35The U.S. Navy has awarded Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) a $73.8 million contract modification to acquire long-lead parts and components needed to build F-35A fighter jets for Japan.

The Defense Department said Friday that Lockheed will use the materials to complete and deliver six F-35As under low-rate initial production Lot 12 to Japan through DoD’s foreign military sales program.

The Naval Air Systems Command has obligated the full amount of the modification at the time of award from the Navy’s FMS funds.

Lockheed’s aeronautics segment will perform work through December 2020 at various facilities in Texas, California, Florida, New Hampshire, Maryland, Japan and the U.K.
