The $177.7 million modification awarded by NASA on behalf of NOAA requires Northrop to build, test and deliver the Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder units and integrate them into JPSS-3 and JPSS-4, the space agency said Thursday.
NASA added Northrop will provide launch and post-launch support under the modification, extending the performance period to 18 months after the JPSS-4 launch planned on the third quarter of fiscal year 2031.
The agency noted ATMS will be designed to provide climate data to assist NOAA forecasters in tracking weather patterns.
