Contract Award- Northrop Grumman - $171 Million - Navy

Northrop Grumman has been awarded an advanced procurement contract by the US Navy for the DDG 51 Destroyer program. The contract will provide $171 million for long lead materials for the DDG 51 program and will be used to construct DDG 113.

Northrop Grumman was previously awarded a contract to supply DDG 51 destroyers in April and has delivered 26 of 28 vessels, with two presently under construction.

Irwin Edenzon, Northrop Grumman’s sector VP and general manager for Shipbuilding-Gulf Coast, said “This award will allow us to capitalize on our long history of building DDG-class ships and provide the opportunity to exploit a number of process improvements we’ve been implementing. We have worked closely with the Navy to secure funding for long lead time material that will support timely continuation of the DDG 51 production line. Also, this award is important to the nationwide DDG supplier base, a critical element in the program’s success.”
